Darryl Rouson brings decades of legal, legislative, and community-focused experience to the firm. A lifelong advocate for fairness and accountability, Mr. Rouson has spent his career working to expand opportunity, strengthen behavioral and mental health policy, and protect vulnerable members of the community.
Born in New Orleans and raised in St. Petersburg, he graduated from Xavier University before earning his law degree from the University of Florida. His early legal work included service with Gulfcoast Legal Services, where he represented individuals who faced significant financial and social barriers. Over time, he built a respected private practice and emerged as a leader in civic and nonprofit sectors, including serving as president of the St. Petersburg NAACP.
Mr. Rouson earned his jury trial experience as an Assistant State Attorney, primarily prosecuting
criminal cases for the Pinellas County State Attorney’s Office.
Mr. Rouson went on to represent the Tampa Bay region in the Florida Legislature for nearly wenty years. He served four terms in the Florida House of Representatives and then in the Florida Senate, where he became known for bipartisan collaboration, disciplined policymaking, and a commitment to improving health care access, public safety, and substance abuse treatment across the state.
