Polk County Nursing Home Pre-Litigation Settlement
Emerson Straw PL represented a vulnerable nursing-home resident in a negligence action arising from substandard care at a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. After assuming management of the resident’s care, the facility failed to implement adequate pressure-injury prevention, wound management, nutritional support, and safety protocols.
During the resident’s stay, a severe Stage IV pressure ulcer persisted for months without meaningful healing, while additional preventable pressure and shear injuries developed.
