Hillsborough County Resident Suffers Injury After Hospital Nurse Leaves a Pressure Dressing on His Arm and Wrist
Emerson Straw’s client was admitted to the hospital for difficulty breathing and while in the hospital he had a PICC line placed in his arm. Later, a hospital nurse negligently placed a full circumference pressure dressing on the patient’s arm and wrist causing an extreme loss of blood flow. The nurse then left the pressure dressing on throughout the night. The morning nurse discovered the pressure dressing but failed to notify his doctor of the mistake. Plaintiff developed compartment syndrome and had to undergo an emergent fasciotomy. To this day he continues to suffer from nerve and muscle damage. Emerson Straw represented this client and reached a six-figure settlement for the damages incurred to their client.
