Emerson Straw Secures Six-Figure Pre-Litigation Settlement in Pinellas County

A 19-year-old Plaintiff presented to a Pinellas County hospital to deliver her baby and, after a natural birth she developed extremely low blood pressure, an elevated heart rate, and a high temperature. Although these symptoms indicated a potentially serious complication, the physician was notified and no orders were placed, and the plaintiff was discharged the following day without further evaluation or treatment. She returned to the hospital the next day with sepsis and was admitted to the ICU. As a result of the delay in care and failure to respond to her post-delivery symptoms, the plaintiff required an emergency hysterectomy.
